Imagine your space outfitted with a single mat accompanied by soft music emanating from a stereo in the corner. You are lying on the mat, dressed in loose clothing, while your spa therapist kneels in front of you and begins to carefully stretch your body. Over the course of the session, your body is strategically stretched, lengthened and molded into several positions. Your only job is to breathe. Sound relaxing? It is, but relaxation is just one of the many benefits.
The goal of Thai massage is to treat the whole person in his entirety and restore a state of balance. Through acupressure, Hatha yoga and Ayurvedic medicine, Thai massage combines gentle yoga-like stretching with massage of the muscles, tendons, pressure points and energy lines. The benefits can be significant to the body, mind and soul. Instant relaxation and relief from stress are one of the first benefits you notice.
Your whole body feels at peace and that allows you to keep your life in balance. If both your inner body and mind are at peace and your outer physical body is at peace, only goodness and health will come to you. An additional benefit is that in traditional Thai massage, no body oils are used. There is no oil to wash off, you need only to relax.
Although Thai massage won’t give you the quick jolt you would get from an espresso, the lift Thai massage brings to you is longer lasting. When you combine that with ultimate relaxation, and a more peaceful mental sate of mind, you feel like you can achieve anything. Thai massage is definitely worth trying!
