Plan a Home Spa Party

What you Need for an Indulgent Home Spa PartyWhat’s even better than girls’ night out? Girls’ night in! And what better way to spend a night in than with a home spa party? Home spa parties are also a luxurious, creative alternative to traditional bridal or baby showers.
The first step for hosting a home spa party is hiring a massage therapist and/or spa professional three weeks in advance of your party. If your budget is limited, you and your friends can take turns giving massages, facials and pedicures.

Next, on your home spa party to-do list is mailing or e-mailing invitations to your guests, also three weeks in advance of the party. Choose a cool, soothing color theme–such as periwinkle or sage green–which can also be used during home spa party.
Then you’ll want to purchase supplies for facials, manicures and pedicures. Keep in mind that all skin types are different when purchasing facial supplies; aim to procure unscented, dermatologist-recommended products. If you’re the ambitious crafty type, you can make your own home spa party supplies from all-natural ingredients such as fruit and vegetables.

You’ll also want to purchase items for gift baskets. They can be composed of any number and type of self-pampering products, such as eye masks, lotions, creams, bath oils, bath salts, bath pillows, bath trays, deep conditioners, lip balm, facial scrubs, hair towels or loofas. If you have a limited budget, you can ask your guests each to bring two products, one for you or the guest of honor, and another they can all enjoy swapping at the conclusion of the home spa party.

On the evening of your home spa party, set up spa stations: pedicure and manicure, facial, and massage. The massage table should be located in a room where the door can close so each guest has privacy. Your guests will rotate stations.
Arrange large and small candles around each room you’ll be using. This will provide calming, relaxing natural lighting. Be careful about using overly scented candles, as some people are allergic or sensitive to scents.

If you want to create a relaxing aroma, try placing some all-natural lavender oil in a diffuser placed on a dim light bulb. You can also simmer all-natural potpourri on the stove.

Play some soothing instrumental music. Instrumental music will evoke a more relaxing mood than vocals, freeing your guests’ minds from words. If you choose classical music, be sure it’s a calm selection.

For home spa party refreshments, you’ll definitely want to offer chilled water poured from a pitcher into glasses that harmonize with your relaxing color scheme. If you prefer bottled water, provide more decorative glass bottles rather than plastic bottles. Other beverage options could be herb-infused water, hot herbal tea or fresh fruit juice.

Offer healthy, delicious snacks such as fresh fruit salad or fresh vegetables with hummus. Be mindful of the varied dietary needs of your guests, including nut allergies, lactose intolerance, diabetes, or being vegetarian or vegan. And never underestimate the healing power of dark chocolate! Guests can also bring dishes to your home spa party to share.

Shortly before your guests arrive, warm your best, most luxurious towels in the dryer with a fine mesh bag of lavender. Lavender is known for its soothing scent. You can also supply robes for everyone, or each guest can bring her own. Arrange towels and robes in an enticing pile of softness.

You and your friends deserve a night of relaxation and rejuvenation with a home spa party!
